How to set VAT rates on quote lines in JobSheet
Before you start
Add UK VAT at 20% to quote and invoice totals must be Yes in Workspace → UK VAT. See Enable UK VAT in Workspace.
Invoice lines inherit VAT from the quote when you create an invoice from a confirmed quote.
Steps
- Open Quotes and create or edit a quote.
- Under Line items, choose Add blank line or From price book, then set description, quantity, and unit price on each row.
- In the VAT % column, pick 0%, 5%, or 20% for each line. New lines default to 20%.
- Check the unit column label: Unit (£ ex VAT) or Unit (£ inc VAT) matches your Show prices including VAT workspace setting.
- Choose Save changes on the quote (or Create quote if you are still on the new quote form).
Tips
- Mixed rates on one quote are supported. Print and invoice views show the rate per line.
- With VAT off in Workspace, the VAT % column is hidden and lines store plain GBP amounts.
- After toggling workspace VAT settings, open affected quotes and choose Save changes so stored totals update.
