01 Quote and photograph
Quote the rooms, photograph the prep
Price prep, emulsion, woodwork and protection as separate lines. On site, add photos of the prep and any bleed-through to the job, so the customer has the record.
Colour codes and prep notes on record A customer remembers the shade name but not the sheen, and the wrong finish goes on the woodwork. Note the colour code, sheen and surface prep for each room on the job and add photos of any filler or stain bleed, so everyone reads the same record.
02 Finish and invoice
Mark it done, then invoice it
Log your hours and the work carried out from site. The invoice is raised from the quote, with the rooms and extras on the same job.
Snags signed off before the invoice The handback happens, two snags are noted on a scrap of paper, and the invoice waits while the list is chased. Note the snags and mark the visit done on site once they are cleared. The office raises the invoice from the quote with the same site and extras.
