How to choose a document template in JobSheet
Available templates
JobSheet offers three document templates for browser print and server PDF (where PDF exists):
- Classic — the default layout for every workspace (logo, From and Bill to side by side, lines or job facts, totals or footer).
- Detailed — wider layout; commercial documents always show a VAT % column when UK VAT is on.
- Branded — colour letterhead (header band, filled table headers, accent labels). Needs the custom branding add-on to confirm and save. Without the add-on you can still preview it with JobSheet colours and unlock it from Subscription.
The same choice applies to invoices, credit notes, quotes, and job sheets. Existing workspaces stay on Classic until you change it.
Your document logo (uploaded under Workspace → Branding) appears on documents whether or not the add-on is active. Free layouts stay neutral apart from the logo. Branded uses your brand colours when custom branding is on your plan.
Change template and preview
- Open Workspace as the workspace admin.
- Open Templates.
- Under Preview as, choose Invoice, Credit note, Quote, or Job sheet so the live sample matches what you care about.
- Under Layout, choose Classic, Detailed, or Branded. The preview updates as you choose; nothing is saved until you click Confirm layout (or Discard to revert).
- If you pick Branded without custom branding, Confirm stays locked with a prompt to Add custom branding in Subscription. The preview still shows the Branded look with JobSheet colours.
- Under the preview type you chose, set a custom footer for that document type only (invoice, credit note, or quote). Each type has its own text. Job sheets keep a separate footer under Job sheet options.
- With Preview as set to Invoice, use Show bank details on invoices if you want to hide sort code and account number (for example when customers pay online with Stripe). Payment terms still print when set.
- Choose Print sample above the preview for a full-size print dialog (same as a real document print).
- With Preview as set to Job sheet, use the Job sheet options card for section tick boxes, footer, QR, and pack-email — those save as you change them (no Confirm step).
New print previews and server PDFs use the confirmed layout. Existing archived PDFs keep their prior layout.
Preview a real document
- Open any invoice, credit note, quote, or job.
- Choose Print / PDF for a browser preview that matches the Workspace template (and Branded colours when that layout is saved and the add-on is active).
- On invoices and job sheets, choose Download PDF for the server PDF when available.
